Pier 66 Electrification

KBA is providing resident engineering services for the $44 million project to develop a single-berth cruise shore power system at the Bell Street Cruise Terminal. The project involves work at Terminal 46 and Pier 66, including the installation of approximately 6,100 feet of 26.4kV underwater cable. At Terminal 46, the work includes installing conduit, duct banks, handholes, vaults, and related trenching and pavement work. At Pier 66, tasks involve completing the electrical shore power system, including installing owner-furnished equipment, conduits, cabling, concrete pads, and interconnecting power and control cabling, as well as testing and other tasks to ensure a fully functional system.

Pier 66 Fender System Rehabilitation (U00633)

Location: Seattle, Washington
2019 - Present

KBA is providing resident engineering services for this $5.2 million project to preserve assets and revenue at Pier 66’s west apron. The 26 fender panel assemblies, originally installed in 1998, will be refurbished off-site, with damaged timber panels, rubber absorbers, and steel components replaced. Six floating foam-filled fenders and attachment hardware will also be replaced, along with all anodes on steel sleeves. The project will be completed in two phases, with in-water work scheduled during the permitted window, outside of cruise season.

Baggage Optimization

Location: Seattle, Washington
2019 - Present

KBA is inspecting this $255 million airside project, updating the baggage system by demolishing old facilities and installing a new conveyor and control system. Responsibilities include inspections, tracking payments, and coordinating with contractors, airlines, and airport operations. Key challenges are maintaining baggage functionality during demolition and shutdowns, addressed through meetings and approvals, with impacts communicated via advisory forms and shutdown requests.
