Location: Sumner, WA

KBA is providing construction management services for the City of Sumner’s new $34 million Operations Facility, covering 88,000 square feet across seven buildings on a 7.6-acre site. The facility includes an administration building, vehicle storage, fleet washing, material storage, and a decant facility, along with frontage improvements, landscaping, site lighting, utilities, and stormwater management. The project is divided into two phases: the North Parcel, valued at $2.6 million, is under construction with one building and the decant facility, while the South Parcel, valued at approximately $30 million, will start later.

KBA is providing construction management and inspection services for the $15.2 million remodel of the Monroe Municipal Campus, including City Hall and Municipal Court, to address building life safety deficiencies, upgrade building systems, improve user experience, and enhance department coordination. The project includes new office spaces and municipal judicial courts, with system upgrades such as mechanical, plumbing, electrical, audio-visual, and communications systems. The remodel also features new interior and exterior architectural finishes to modernize and improve the functionality of the municipal campus.

KBA is providing construction management and resident engineering services for this project, which will provide a new bus layover area and building along Eastlake Avenue East, between Roy Street and Stewart Street. The Project utilizes space within the rights of way belonging to the City of Seattle and the State of Washington. The work includes the construction of off-street and on-street bus layover facilities and a Metro Transit Comfort Station. The Comfort Station will consist of restrooms, offices, a break room, a kitchen, and an IT room. The work also includes new retaining walls, improvements and restorations to roadways, traffic signals, and revised channelization to facilitate bus movements.

KBA provided construction management and inspection for this $30 million project, converting a 70,000 SF building into Community Transit’s administrative headquarters. The project involved extensive interior renovations, exterior façade improvements, two building additions, and site work for storm drainage, parking, and traffic flow. Other work included new paving, landscaping, interior demolition, structural upgrades, and improvements to electrical, plumbing, mechanical, data center, lighting, A/V, and communications systems. Upgrades were completed while one-third of the building remained operational 24/7 for maintenance operations.

Operations and Maintenance Facility - East Link Light Rail

2017 - 2023

KBA served as the prime consultant, providing Design-Build Project Management for this $232 million project. KBA led a team in design review and construction management for the maintenance facility, storage tracks, systems work, and related features, ensuring quality through inspection of the design-builder’s QC/QA program. Part of the ST2 Plan, the OMFE Project supported light rail expansion from 16 to 50 miles by storing, maintaining, and deploying vehicles. It included a 96-LRV storage yard, a 14-bay maintenance facility, offices, train control systems, traction power substations, an overhead catenary system, communications, and SCADA. The project also involved constructing an interim East Side bike trail and required coordination with adjacent contracts and multiple agencies. It received Federal Transit Authority funding.
